Oasis Books & Games is an independent publisher creating books and tabletop games inspired by nature, science, distant worlds, remarkable creatures, and the possibilities of the future. Whether an adventure takes place among the animals of Earth, on the surface of another world, or somewhere humanity has yet to reach, our goal is the same: to encourage curiosity, imagination, discovery, and play.
The company was founded by author, game developer, and independent historical researcher Donna Evans, whose work explores the connections between technology, ecology, culture, and the future of human civilization. After more than a decade working in cybersecurity and a lifetime of studying, Donna turned her attention toward imagining how science, engineering, conservation, and cooperation might help us build a better future.
That perspective shapes much of what Oasis creates. Science and nature aren’t treated as opposites, and technology doesn’t have to come at the expense of the living world. Our speculative settings imagine futures in which exploration and innovation can exist alongside environmental stewardship, while our nature-focused stories and games celebrate the extraordinary creatures and ecosystems that already surround us.
Donna’s lifelong interests in space exploration, medicine, world cultures, wildlife, ancient history, and architecture also find their way into Oasis projects. Decades spent exploring museums, zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, historical sites, and the scientific questions that make our world fascinating have provided an endless source of inspiration.
Some Oasis projects look toward humanity’s future. Others look closely at the lives of animals here on Earth. Still others venture into entirely imaginary ecosystems and distant worlds. They may tell very different stories, but they share a belief that learning about something doesn’t make it less wondrous—it gives us more reasons to wonder.
At Oasis Books & Games, we create for people who haven’t outgrown the urge to ask How does that work? What lived here before us? Who’s out there? What might come next?
There’s always something new to discover!
